NSW: Tree changers lured by affordable homes
Tree changers are being lured from the city to country New South Wales by bargain house
prices and low rents that wouldn't cover a Sydney garage.
A housing affordability survey of 33 country and regional centres by the New South
Wales Department of Lands shows good quality four-bedroom homes can be found in towns
like Grenfell and Tumbarumba for a modest 180 thousand dollars.
The top rent for a two-bedroom property is 200 dollars a week .. with some going for
as little as 90 dollars in Temora and Coolah.
The organisers of Country Week .. which will be held at Sydney's Rosehill Racecourse
this weekend .. will use the figures to tempt Sydney residents to get out of the rat race.
