Less than two months ago, harmonicat John Popper and the rest of his band were up at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, headlining the blockbuster H.O.R.D.E. Festival with the Black Crowes and Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers.
Since then, the band has been busy.
Their multi-platinum album ``Four'' and hit single ``Run-Around'' both shot into the Top 10.
The band has just released their version of Sly & the Family Stone's classic ``I Want to Take You Higher,'' which is included on ``Hempalation,'' a new compilation CD to benefit NORML.
It hasn't all been good news. Popper was driving through South Brunswick last month when he was pulled over by the New Jersey Highway Patrol for an expired registration. It turned out that in addition to a pocketful of harmonicas, Popper was also packing a Sherlock Holmes-style umbrella with a concealed dagger, and he was charged with violations of the weapons code.
The good news was back in gear last week, when The Artist Formerly Known As Prince dropped out of his spot on the season-opening installment of ``Saturday Night Live.'' Yes, you guessed it Blues Traveler was tapped at the last minute as his replacement. …
