UN rights panel says Libya turning page

GENEVA (AP) — An independent U.N. panel says Libya's new government has pledged to prevent further human rights abuses in the country.

Canadian judge Philippe Kirsch says the panel was "pleased to receive assurances of the government's continued commitment to human rights" during a visit to Libya's capital Tripoli from late November to mid-December.
