NASA challenges plan to auction Apollo 11 relic

The NASA inspector general's office is investigating plans by anauction house to sell a relic of the first expedition to land on themoon.

A silvery grab handle attached to the outside of the Apollo 11command module could be sold for $20,000 to $30,000, say sellers atButterfields auction house in San Francisco, which is owned by theonline auction site eBay

Normally, an object from a historic expedition would have ended upon display at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum in Washington.
