According to agricultural biologists at Purdue University, a process is now ready for development to ferment the sugars in corn stover into ethanol. The process uses existing industrial equipment which "is key to getting the technology accepted by the ethanol industry," says Michael Ladisch of the University's Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department. He notes that the system has the potential to increase ethanol conversion from nongrain sources. For additional information, contact Ladisch via e-mail at ladisch@ecn.purdue.edu.
